The Ehlers Group was selected to assist in the promotional plans of the groundbreaking celebration for the developer’s first active adult condominium community.Located in on a 24-acre site in the western suburban city of Weston, FL, the community is designed with classic Mediterranean architecture clusters of four-story residential condominium buildings around an interior lake and central courtyard with extensive garden landscaping and lounging areas. A 70-foot bridge connects “The Island House” with 55 condominium residences.
TEG responsibilities for the June 24, 2004 celebration included developing event strategies and coordinating logistics with the event team, caterer and other suppliers.The elegant, upscale event featured a red carpet entrance, community gift bags and signature red roses for 500 guests, VIPs and dignitaries. Entertainment and recognition presentations were also coordinated.
TEG also was engaged to handle media relations. Key media were invited and media kits were created along with pre and post-event press releases. The Palace at Weston’s groundbreaking celebration received a National Association of Home Builders’ 2005 Best of Seniors Housing “Gold” award for the Special Promotion category’s Active Adult Division.Additionally, new deposits contracts increased sales from 85 percent of total sellout (pre-event) to 92 percent in total sellout, post-event.
TEG continued to provide marketing and public relations services for the community. A focus group with residents under contract was conducted to determine active adult purchasing decisions. The research in turn offered unique publicity opportunities and customer insights.
